External Disks Scan task

Kaspersky Endpoint Security can scan all files that you run or copy, even if the file is located on an external disk. To prevent the spread of malware, you can configure automatic scans of external disks when they are connected to the device.

The following External Disks Scan settings can be configured:

• The action that Kaspersky Endpoint Security performs when an external disk is connected.

  Scan

  If this option is selected, Kaspersky Endpoint Security starts a malware scan task for the connected external disk.

  This option is selected by default.

  Do nothing

  If this option is selected, Kaspersky Endpoint Security does not scan the connected external disk.

• The action that Kaspersky Endpoint Security performs upon detecting a malicious object.

  Disinfect, delete if disinfection fails

  If this option is selected, Kaspersky Endpoint Security blocks access to the infected object and attempts to disinfect it without requesting confirmation from the user.

  If the object is disinfected, Kaspersky Endpoint Security saves it in its original location under the original file name. If disinfection fails, Kaspersky Endpoint Security deletes the infected objects that could not be disinfected.

  This option is selected by default.

  Prompt for action

  If this option is selected, Kaspersky Endpoint Security displays a notification window with information about the malicious object, and prompts the user to choose the action to be taken by Kaspersky Endpoint Security. The available actions may vary depending on the status of the object.

You can configure External Disks Scan in the Administration Console, Web Console, or in the Kaspersky Endpoint Security application.
