When you activate Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 with a renewal license code, the application searches your computer for a Kaspersky Internet Security or a Kaspersky Anti-Virus license to the one of the following versions: 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015. Then it takes an action depending on the result:

1. License has been found

If a license has been found, its details, along with the new activation code, are sent to Kaspersky Lab server. The activation server returns a 1 year's Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 license.

2. License not found

If no license has been found (for example, if you have never activated Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 or Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2015 with a commercial activation code on this computer), the Renew license window will appear.

  • Select the check box Enter the previous activation code, type your old activation code and click Next
    • If the code is a commercial activation code for Kaspersky Internet Security or Kaspersky Anti-Virus version 2012, 2013, 2014, or 2015, the license details along with the new activation code are transferred to Kaspersky Lab server. The activation server returns a 1 year's Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 license.
    • If the code you have entered
      • does not refer to Kaspersky Internet Security or Kaspersky Anti-Virus version 2012, 2013, 2014, or 2015;
      • covers less computers that the renewal code;
      • has been used for renewal;
      • is entered incorrectly,

you will receive a notification.

  • Select the check box I agree to decrease license validity period by <x>%. License expiration date <date> and click Next. The application will send a request to Kaspersky Lab server. The server returns a Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 license issued for the reduced term.

     Please note that the percentage of the license term reduction also depends on the activation edition.

The license term of a Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 renewal license is less than 12 months. What do I do?

If the license term of your renewal license appears to be less than 12 months, both the application failed to find a previous license and you did not enter your old activation code. If such case, contact Kaspersky Lab Technical Support by submitting a request via My Kaspersky. In your request, please provide a detailed description of the problem and specify all license numbers and activation codes involved. For more information on how to use My Kaspersky, see the respective FAQ page.
