Error "The selected folder or drive already contains files. The application cannot be installed" during Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 installation

If during installation of Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 you receive the message "The selected folder or drive already contains files. The application cannot be installed", then manually delete the Kaspersky Lab installation folder the following way:

  1. Open the "Run" command:
  2. In the Run window in the Open field enter explorer.exe.
  3. Click the OK button.

  1. In the Program Files folder (for users of Windows Vista/7/8 (64-bit) folder C:\Program Files(x86)), delete the folder Kaspersky Lab
    • Select the Kaspersky Lab folder.
    • Press the Delete key on the keyboard.
    • In the Delete Folder window click Yes, to delete the folder. 
  2. or 
    • Right-click the Kaspersky Lab folder.
    • In the context menu select Delete.
    • In the Delete Folder window click Yes, to delete the folder. 

If the installation directory differs from the Windows OS default installation directory (i.e. different from the Program Files directory), then find the Kaspersky Lab folder in this directory and delete it.
  1. Try to install Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 once again.
