“The application should be reinstalled” message

When activating a Kaspersky Lab product, you may get the error message "The application should be reinstalled".

To fix this problem, reinstall the application:

  1. Download the application installer from the Knowledge Base:
    • Kaspersky Internet Security 20
    • Kaspersky Anti-Virus 20
    • Kaspersky Total Security 20
    • Kaspersky Security Cloud - Family, Personal, Free.
    • Kaspersky Small Office Security 7.
  2. Remove the application. In the Saving objects window, select the License information checkbox. See this article for instructions.
  3. Restart your PC.
  4. Run the installation file and follow the instructions in these articles:
    • Kaspersky Internet Security 20
    • Kaspersky Anti-Virus 20
    • Kaspersky Total Security 20
    • Kaspersky Security Cloud 20
    • Kaspersky Small Office Security 7
  5. Activate the application. For activation guides, see these articles:
