SVM discovery
You can select one of the SVM discovery methods for the Light Agent:
- Using the Integration Server (VIIS).
Integration Server is the solution component that enables the interaction of Kaspersky Security for Virtualization Light Agent with the virtual infrastructure. The Integration Server maintains a list of SVMs that can be connected to. Light Agent establishes a connection with the Integration Server and gets the list of SVM addresses.
An Integration Server is useful in large-scale virtual infrastructures because the Integration Server automatically balances load among SVMs. The Integration Server gets information about available SVMs, analyzes it and provides Light Agents with a list of Protection Servers (SVM) that are optimal for connection.
For Light Agent to be able to get a list of SVMs, you only need to enter the address of the Integration Server.
- Using the list of SVM addresses.
If you need to specify individual SVMs that you want Light Agent to connect to, you can prepare a list manually.
You need to list addresses of available SVMs that the Light Agent can connect to.
How to configure SVM discovery by Light Agent in the Administration Console (MMC)
- Open the Kaspersky Security Center Administration Console.
- In the console tree, select Policies.
- Select the necessary policy and double-click to open the policy properties.
- In the policy window, select Light Agent mode → SVM discovery settings.
- Select an SVM discovery method.
- Use Integration Server. Enter the Integration Server connection settings. Enter the IP address in IPv4 format or fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the device on which the Integration Server is installed.
- Use a custom list of SVM addresses. Create a list of SVMs that Light Agent can connect to. Specify the IP address in IPv4 format or the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of SVM. You can enter several IP addresses or full domain names of the SVMs by typing them from a new line.
In the list of SVM addresses, specify only full domain names (FQDN) that are matched by a single IP address. Using a fully qualified domain name that corresponds to multiple IP addresses can lead to errors in the solution.
- Save your changes.
How to configure SVM discovery by Light Agent in the Web Console
- In the main window of the Web Console, select Assets (Devices) → Policies & profiles.
- Click the name of the Kaspersky Endpoint Security policy.
The policy properties window opens.
- Select the Application settings tab.
- Go to Light Agent mode → SVM discovery settings.
- Select an SVM discovery method.
- Use Integration Server. Enter the Integration Server connection settings. Enter the IP address in IPv4 format or fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the device on which the Integration Server is installed.
- Use a custom list of SVM addresses. Create a list of SVMs that Light Agent can connect to. Specify the IP address in IPv4 format or the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of SVM. You can enter several IP addresses or full domain names of the SVMs by typing them from a new line.

button. - In the application settings window, under Light Agent mode click the SVM discovery settings tile.
- Select an SVM discovery method.
