About Kaspersky Safe Kids
Kaspersky Safe Kids monitors the safety of your child in the physical and virtual world.
It is up to you to decide what is safe for your child: what websites he or she can visit, how far away from home he or she can walk, and how many hours he or she can spend using the computer or smartphone. The application makes sure the child obeys the rules you have set.
Kaspersky Safe Kids lets you protect the child:
- On the Internet:
- Show only safe search query results to the child.
- Stop the child from visiting specific sites or all sites belonging to a specific category (e.g., gambling sites).
- Find out which sites the child has visited that day.
- Learn about the child's postings on social networks and friends with whom the child communicates.
- On a computer:
- Learn about the number of hours that the child has spent at the computer.
- Help the child spend less time at the computer.
- Limit usage of specific applications or all applications belonging to a specific category (e.g., computer games).
- Restrict usage of applications for which the child is not old enough.
- Help the child plan time for homework and computer games.
- On a tablet or smartphone:
- Find out how many hours the child spent using the tablet or smartphone.
- Find out who the child communicates with by phone and via SMS messages.
- Limit mobile device usage time.
- Limit usage of specific applications or all applications belonging to a specific category (e.g., to prevent the child from getting distracted by social networks while doing homework).
- Set the usage time for specific applications.
- Outside of home:
- Check the child's location on the map.
- Choose a safe perimeter for the child.
- Make sure the child does not cut classes.
- Manage Kaspersky Safe Kids from any device with an Internet connection.
If a child wants to obtain permission to visit a website or to use an application, he or she can send you a permission request via Kaspersky Safe Kids.
Kaspersky Safe Kids can be installed on Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS devices. You can install Kaspersky Safe Kids on your smartphone and receive push notifications about child activity and child permission requests in real time. You can also receive alerts by email or view them on My Kaspersky portal.
Kaspersky Safe Kids is suitable for children of any age. If you specify the child's age in Kaspersky Safe Kids, the application automatically chooses settings for that age.

The profile lets you configure child protection on the computer. The profile stores information about the child's age, the child's user account on the computer, and computer usage rules such as which sites the child is allowed to visit, which applications the child may use, and how much time the child can spend on the computer. If you have added a child's profile on the My Kaspersky portal or via the Kaspersky Safe Kids mobile app, use this profile. Child requests permission to visit website: <Site web address>
.Child requests permission to use application: <Application name>
.
You can visit the site or find information about the application to form your own idea about them. You can also speak to the child in person and find out why he or she needs a particular website or application. Make your decision known to the child using the Allow or Deny buttons.
Your decision is automatically relayed to the child's computer.
The child sees one of the following messages:
You can now visit the website <Site web address>
.You can now use the application <Application name>
.This website may harm you. Please do not visit <Site web address>
.This application may harm you. Please do not use <Application name>
.

The client first connects to the proxy server and queries a particular resource (for example, a file) located on a different server. After that, the proxy server either connects to the specified server and gets the resource from it, or returns the resource from its own cache (if the proxy has its own cache). If some cases the client's query or server's response can be modified by the proxy server for certain purposes.
Request to parent
This is a Kaspersky Safe Kids feature intended for children. If children want to visit a forbidden website or to use a blocked application, they can send their parents a request to allow such an action.
If a parent allows a child to visit a website or to use an application, Kaspersky Safe Kids makes the appropriate changes to the protection settings on the My Kaspersky portal. The allowed website or application is automatically added to the exclusions and becomes continually available to the child.
You can respond to child requests via the My Kaspersky portal or via your smartphone or tablet if Kaspersky Safe Kids is installed on them.
Page topAO Kaspersky Lab
Kaspersky Lab is a world-renowned vendor of systems protecting computers against various threats, including viruses and other malware, unsolicited email (spam), network and hacking attacks.
In 2008, Kaspersky Lab was rated among the world’s top four leading vendors of information security software solutions for end users (IDC Worldwide Endpoint Security Revenue by Vendor). Kaspersky Lab is the preferred vendor of computer protection systems for home users in Russia ("IDC Endpoint Tracker 2014").
Kaspersky Lab was founded in Russia in 1997. It has since grown into an international group of companies with 38 offices in 33 countries. The company employs more than 3000 qualified specialists.
Products. Kaspersky Lab’s products provide protection for all systems—from home computers to large corporate networks.
The personal product range includes security applications for desktop, laptop, and tablet computers, smartphones and other mobile devices.
The company offers protection and control solutions and technologies for workstations and mobile devices, virtual machines, file and web servers, mail gateways, and firewalls. The company's portfolio also features specialized products providing protection against DDoS attacks, protection for industrial control systems, and prevention of financial fraud. Used in conjunction with Kaspersky Lab’s centralized management system, these solutions ensure effective automated protection for companies and organizations of any size against computer threats. Kaspersky Lab's products are certified by the major test laboratories, are compatible with the software of many suppliers of computer applications, and are optimized to run on many hardware platforms.
Kaspersky Lab’s virus analysts work around the clock. Every day they uncover hundreds of thousands of new computer threats, create tools to detect and disinfect them, and include signatures of those threats in the databases used by Kaspersky Lab applications.
Technologies. Many technologies that are now part and parcel of modern anti-virus tools were originally developed by Kaspersky Lab. It is no coincidence that many other developers use the Kaspersky Anti-Virus kernel in their products, including: Alcatel-Lucent, Alt-N, Asus, BAE Systems, Blue Coat, Check Point, Cisco Meraki, Clearswift, D-Link, Facebook, General Dynamics, H3C, Juniper Networks, Lenovo, Microsoft, NETGEAR, Openwave Messaging, Parallels, Qualcomm, Samsung, Stormshield, Toshiba, Trustwave, Vertu, ZyXEL. Many of the company’s innovative technologies are patented.
Achievements. Kaspersky Lab has won hundreds of awards over years of combating computer threats. Following tests and research conducted by the reputed Austrian test laboratory AV-Comparatives in 2014, Kaspersky Lab ranked among the top two vendors by the number of Advanced+ certificates earned and was eventually awarded the Top Rated certificate. But Kaspersky Lab's main achievement is the loyalty of its users worldwide. The company’s products and technologies protect more than 400 million users, and its corporate clients number more than 270,000.

Page topHow to discuss installing Kaspersky Safe Kids with your child
Depending on the child's age, you can install Kaspersky Safe Kids and set the rules for using devices yourself, or do it together with your child.
Age: 3-6
Installing Kaspersky Safe Kids does not need to be discussed with children aged 3-6. You can install the application before you give your child the device. If you let your child use your device, it's a good idea to create a separate account for the child where you can set all the necessary restrictions. Remember that children can easily become addicted to gadgets. You should not let your child have their phone or tablet during meals or use it as a way to calm them down. Otherwise your child might refuse to eat without a cartoon or cry if you don't give them their phone.
Age: 7-10
Children aged 7-10 might use a computer for schoolwork, and a phone to contact parents and friends, so it’s not unusual for them to have their own devices. It's better to install the application before giving your child their first personal device. You can tell your child, for example: "I've installed a special program to protect you. It will teach you how to stay safe online, warn you about information that's bad, and help you find your phone if you lose it."
You don't need to tell the child about all the program functions. Use the information you get from Kaspersky Safe Kids wisely.
7-10 year olds spend most of their free time playing. If children spend all their time playing computer games, they can become addicted. It's important to control the time your child spends in front of the screen. The recommended time limit is no more than 2 hours a day.
Age: 11-13
Installing Kaspersky Safe Kids should be discussed with children aged 11-13. You can link it to buying a new device your child has been hankering after. You can say: "I'll buy you a new phone (computer) on one condition – Kaspersky Safe Kids will be installed on it. It will protect you from dangerous websites, warn me about unknown people trying to make contact with you, and let me know where you are."
If you have no plans to buy a new device, tell the child about your concerns and suggest a compromise: "You hear all the time about threats online and in real life: kidnapping, mugging, terrorism, gambling, cyberstalking, blackmail, etc. (It would be good to give a real-life example that the child knows about.) I worry a lot about you, but understand you're growing up and want more freedom and independence. Let's agree that I'll stop nagging you about what you're doing, but we'll install a program to protect you from dangerous websites, warn me if an unknown person is trying to make contact with you, and tell me where you are. What d'you say?"
With 11-13 year olds, you should focus on three important features of the application: location tracking, monitoring of social media and suspicious contacts, and prevention of social media addiction. There's no need to tell your child about all the tools in Kaspersky Safe Kids.
- Don't hide the fact that you will be able to see information about your child's location. It's better to say: "You're becoming more mature and independent. I'm happy about that, but worry I won't be able to help you if you suddenly need me. Spend time with friends by all means, but don't go far. I have to know where you are. Let's decide together where you can hang out freely. This program will tell me if you go somewhere else. If you do need to go somewhere else, call me, OK?"
- Warn your adolescent child that the application will let you read his/her messages in social media and warn you about suspicious contacts: "Like everyone else, I can view your page, but only what you post publicly. Don't worry, I won't be able to look at your private messages. I respect your privacy. But if someone suspicious tries to 'friend' you, for example, a grown-up stranger, the program will tell me about it."
- For 11-13 year olds, peer group status is especially important. They use the Internet as a tool for communicating and socializing. Explain to your child that it's important to take regular breaks from social media and make a suggestion: "Social media addiction is problem for many people, not just teenagers. Psychiatrists describe it as a chronic illness that needs treatment. The simplest way to prevent addiction is to limit social media use. You can use social media on one condition: I forbid it during school time and at night."
With children this age, excessive control can harm your relationship. Use the information you get from Kaspersky Safe Kids wisely. In some situations you might have to make your own conclusions, but it's not necessary to say anything to your child.
Age: 14-17
If your child is aged 14-17, you must reach a mutual agreement to use Kaspersky Safe Kids. If you install the application without their consent, it could have undesirable consequences. You can say: "You're already independent, and I realize you just think I'm fussing. But even adults sometimes get into difficult situations. I'd feel so much better if you agreed to install a special program on your phone and computer to warn me about threats and suspicious contacts, and protect you against buying things by mistake and financial fraud. I promise I won't use functions you really don't want me to."
Your child's voluntary consent to install the application is a sign of trust. Remember that most children over the age of 14 are sufficiently tech-savvy to delete any application from their device. Your teenager could simply turn off their phone, buy another device, or open a different social media account.
Many 14-17 year olds have their first experience of falling in love and become increasingly interested in relationships, including sexual ones. Your child might be unwilling to open up about this. Be understanding and let him/her view websites on this topic that you consider appropriate.
