Configuring the addition of X-headers to messages

You can manage the addition of information X-headers to messages. For example, you can disable the addition of KSMG information X-headers to the headers of messages that are sent outside the organization to prevent disclosing the presence of KSMG in the infrastructure.

To enable or disable the addition of X headers to scanned messages:

  1. In the application web interface window, select the SettingsGeneralMessage processing section.
  2. Use the Add X-headers to message headers toggle switch to enable or disable the addition of X-KSMG- X-headers.
  3. Use the Add header X-KSMG-AntiVirus-Status to message MIME parts toggle switch to enable or disable the addition of a header to the MIME parts of messages scanned by the Anti-Virus module.

    This toggle switch is available if adding X-headers to message headers is enabled.

    The header is added to the MIME parts of the message if the Anti-Virus module assigned the Infected, Error, or Encrypted status to the message.

    X-headers of MIME parts are not processed by the rules.

  4. Use the Add X-MS-Exchange-Organization-SCL header to headers of spam and probable spam messages toggle switch to enable or disable the addition of X-MS-Exchange-Organization-SCL X-headers to the headers of messages that the application considers to be spam or probable spam.

    A message is considered spam if the Anti-Spam module scans it and assigns the Spam status.

    If this option is enabled, the X-MS-Exchange-Organization-SCL header with a value of 9 is added to the headers of messages with the Spam status.

    A message is considered probable spam if the Anti-Spam module scans it and assigns the Probable spam status. If this option is enabled, the X-MS-Exchange-Organization-SCL header with a value from 0 to 9 is added to the headers of such messages.

  5. Use the Add X-MS-Exchange-Organization-SCL header to headers of non-spam messages toggle switch to enable or disable the addition of X-MS-Exchange-Organization-SCL X-headers to the headers of messages that the application does consider to be spam.

    A message is not considered spam if the Anti-Spam module scans it and assigns one of the following statuses.

    • Not detected.
    • Mass mail.
    • Formal message.
    • Trusted.

    If this option is enabled, the X-MS-Exchange-Organization-SCL header with a value of -1 is added to the headers of messages that have the listed statuses.

  6. Click Save.

The adding of X headers is configured.

If a rule containing actions on headers is applied to a message after adding X-headers, the added X-headers may be edited or removed, or X-headers defined in the rule can be added to them.
