You can view the following information about a message without downloading it: subject, date and time when the original message was received, and the message body.

To view the content of a message in Backup:

  1. In the application web interface window, select the Backup section.
  2. In the table of Backup objects, select the message for which you want to view the content.

This opens the View message information window.

  3. Select the Preview tab.
  4. If you want to view the message content as plain text without HTML markup, select the Plain text viewing mode.

If the main part of the message cannot be extracted, the preview area displays a warning saying that the message content cannot be displayed.

  5. If you want to view the message in MIME format, select the Raw viewing mode.

This mode is only available to users with the Preview and download raw messages or Preview and download raw insecure messages permission.

  6. If you want to view the message in HTML format, select the HTML viewing mode.

Message preview is available if the message contains data in HTML format and the Anti-Virus scan has assigned the Not detected, Encrypted, Not scanned, or Bases error status. If the main part of the message cannot be extracted, the preview area displays a warning saying that the message content cannot be displayed.

If the message contains external content (for example, images to be downloaded from external sites) or links, by default these are blocked: images are not displayed, and links are inactive. If you want to view external content and links, click Show remote content and links and confirm. This button is not available if the Link scanning or Anti-Phishing module assigned the Not detected, Not scanned, or Bases error status to the message. The user must have the View remote content and links permission.

To display external content, one of the following browsers must be installed on your computer: Mozilla Firefox 119 or later, Microsoft Edge 96 or later, or Google Chrome 96 or later.
