This section provides recommendations for provisioning computing resources that you need to install and use KSMG. The recommendations depend on the traffic volume and the combination of protection technologies that you want to use.

How to determine the virtual machine configuration

Choosing the optimal configuration of virtual machines involves the following steps:

Determining the requirements
The hardware specifications are derived from the needs of your organization.
Determining the suitable virtual machine configuration
Choosing virtual disk size

Specifications of the hardware used for benchmarking

Virtual machines were benchmarked on DELL PowerEdge R450 servers with the following specifications:

Intel Xeon Silver 4314 CPU
32 GB DDR4-3200 ECC RDIMM memory
480 GB SSD, SATA
2x10 Gbit BASE-T Ethernet controller
2x1 Gbit BASE-T Ethernet controller

The hypervisor had only KSMG virtual machines powered on while benchmarking was taking place. The application was receiving email traffic. The average message size in email traffic was 272.0 KB.

The table below lists the number of disk read and write operations per second that was measured while benchmarking.
