Testing replication protection

We recommend testing the ability of Kaspersky Anti-Virus to detect viruses in the text of Rich Text and MIME documents, in document attachments and in embedded OLE objects.

To check detection of viruses when in database replication mode:

  1. Select an unprotected server for which a replication has been configured on the protected server.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • On the chosen server, select the database whose replica is located on the protected server and then select a document containing an RTF or MIME field.
    • On an unprotected server, create a database on the basis of one of the existing templates, then on the protected server create a replica of this database and in the database on the unprotected server create a document containing an RTF or MIME field.
  3. Paste the text of the standard or modified text file in the RTF or MIME field of the selected document.
  4. Attach the file and OLE object containing the text of the standard or modified test file to the selected document.

At the next replication, Kaspersky Anti-Virus detects the object and identifies it as infected, and when a modified test file is used – identifies it according to the prefix used. The application then performs the action selected in the replication protection settings for such objects. By default, an infected object which cannot be disinfected by Kaspersky Anti-Virus is deleted, information about its detection and actions taken on it is recorded in the Event log and statistics database, and a notification is sent to the server administrators or the administrators of the profile to which this server belongs.

You can view replication protection statistics and messages sent to administrators.
